Nukeproof MegaTR275 Pro Bike 2014 Review - Nukeproof tough but sometimes overlooked mega TR has always been a great bike for those looking to explore new avenues and have fun on the road. For 2015, it still hit us hard edges come to love, but gets improved aesthetics and the latest specification which should open up more of its potential. We hit the road at the top-of-the-range mega TR Pro to launch in Spain to find out for ourselves.

Frame and equipment: dashing and extraordinary specced

Under matt black finish TR Pro is fat, hydroformed 6061-T6 alloy tubeset, enhanced with 142x12mm and 44mm rear head straight tube that will take tapered fork-driver. Nukeproof the suspension system Erosion link comfortable dish out progressive 130mm (5.1in) of travel, and neat cable routing, ISCG-05 tabs and spaces for bottle cage round the good stuff.

While TR share silhouette with the longer-trip mega AM, lighter tube adds a touch more flexibility. 67-degree angle head provides a good balance of cornering agility and stability down, sloping top tube provides enough space extortion and steep angle of 73.5 degrees wheelchair helps keep the front grip when climbing.

Pro sitting on three bikes range TR Mega spec to match, including an incredible mix of SRAM X01 and X1 transmission kit and manual RS brakes, Schwalbe Magic Mary and Rock Razor combo on rims tubeless-ready, a 125mm RockShox Reverb Stealth post, 50mm stem and 760mm bar. Task suspension is handled by 150mm (5.9in) travel RockShox Monarch RT3 Revelation Debonair front and custom-tuned shock behind.

Ride and handling: hungry for region-long journey
The first thing we noticed about Mega TR is a comfortable riding position - for our 5ft 10in tester, a large frame is a near perfect fit. Taller riders may struggle though, because of the size XL only 27mm longer. The next thing that becomes clear is that, while climbing where TR is not really shines, the 32t chainring and a wide range of 10-42t cassette, steep seat angle and back hard rubber compound would help the process.

It's when you aim TR decreased snoring in life though. This is a bike that begs to be launched from and to the type of terrain you will usually only deal with the longer-travel bikes. But when the gradient begins to flatten and this larger-hitter into too much bike for the task at hand, TR trip shorter and snappier geometry helps keep things lively and fun.

The Schwalbe combination and Monarch cheerful surprise ensure it remains calm, no matter what you throw at it, while the manual brakes, wide bars and short stem provides control the masses, making it seriously fun ride.
